This year I’m taking part in my second National Novel Writing Month! I only got to 15300 words in my first year, but despite doing a degree on top of the challenge this year, I am determined to get to the Winner’s Circle!
For those not in the know, National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, is when writers from all across the world take up their pens, laptops and other writing implements, and write 50,000 words (the length of a YA novel or an adult novella*) in the 30 days of November.
I am! But I know that at the end of it, I’ll have the start of a first draft, which is wonderful!
On this page I’ll put some cool links down, especially if you guys are NaNoing with me!
NaNoWriMo’s Website! Here you can create a profile, talk to other NaNoers and update your wordcount, as well as validating it at the end of the month
A motivational site, for every amount of words you type, you get a picture of a cute kitten! A major favourite with Portsmouth!
This is similar to Written, Kitten! However, instead of rewarding you, it punishes you if you stop writing! There are different settings, from a gentle reminder to keep writing, right up to deleting words if you stop writing!
I’ll also link to every day’s post here, so it’s easier to find them!
*I’ve known people to be ‘NaNo Rebels’ and write an anthology of poems/short stories/flash fiction or even a screenplay/theatre script or a non fiction piece during this challenge!
